CANADA HALL FUNDRAISING
Fundraising for the redevelopment of Canada Hall is underway and this may be an opportune moment to remind / advise readers of The Crossways how they can help.
The intention is that we should try and stage one event per month where the proceeds are put towards the redevelopment. Some of the events in the pipeline include a Parish Walk, Nearly New Sale, Murder Mystery evening and a performance of the Gondoliers.
In addition to fundraising events we need to demonstrate our own commitment to the project and review our own levels of charitable giving. There are many ways in which we can support our chosen charities whether this is through one off donations or by setting up regular contributions through a standing arrangement. If you are a tax payer it is possible to make your contribution even more valuable by donating through the Gift Aid scheme. In this way the value of your donation is increased by 28p for every pound you give. The regular giving can be by bank standing order or by making a donation direct from your pay through the Give As You Earn (GAYE) scheme operated by most large employers. Many large employers encourage their employees to use GAYE when giving to charity by matching the individual’s contribution to their chosen charity. For those with internet access it is possible to make one off payments by visiting the Charities Aid Foundation website and donating by using your credit or debit card. The website address is below and from here it is possible to search for the charity you wish to support and donate accordingly. In the case of those wishing to support the Canada Hall development you need first to select “For individuals” and then click on “Find a Charity and Donate”. Next by entering “All Saints Merstham” in the Keyword box and clicking the Search button you will be presented with a screen for the “PCC of All Saints”. From here you can make a donation by Credit or Debit Card towards the hall by typing Canada Hall in the “Additional Instructions” box and then following the remaining on screen instructions.
