Canada Hall was built by Canadian Servicemen stationed in the area during the Second World War. After the original church was destroyed by a bomb on the night of 19th April 1941. The new church building was used for services, including weddings until the new church was completed in 1952. At this point it was renamed Canada Hall and since then it has served the community as a focal meeting place and is used to this day by the local Guides, Canada Hall WI, Aerobics groups, Merstham Horticultural Society and many others. On Sunday it is used by the many children’s groups running alongside the Communion Service. The hall is now proving to be too small to cater for all the groups which wish to use it and the decision was taken to redevelop the site. The plans have been submitted to the Reigate and Banstead Borough Council and we received planning permission in September 2008. Click here to see the plans. Work is now underway to raise the funds so that we can provide more space and updated facilities and give Canada Hall a new lease of life. This page will be regularly updated as news comes in and the development proceeds. To read the latest progress reports produced by the Canada Hall Implementation Groupview this page.
